Korea's official Visa Portal (visa.go.kr, run by the Ministry of Justice) specifies

a 3.5 x 4.5 cm colour photograph on a plain white background for visa applications,

and the immigration service photo-size page measures the face at 2.5-3.5 cm from

chin to crown - roughly 56-78 percent of the frame, which is what the guide lines

here show. At 300 DPI the print size is 413 x 531 pixels, the canvas this tool

exports; no file-size cap is published for the upload, so this preset leaves the

limit off. A widely quoted K-ETA figure of 700 pixels and 100 KB circulates on

third-party agency sites but appears nowhere on the official k-eta.go.kr portal,

so we do not bake it in - if your K-ETA application rejects the file for size,

the compressor slider can still bring any export under 100 KB in one step. Shoot

against a white wall in even daylight, keep a neutral expression with both eyes

open, and leave head coverings off unless worn daily for religious or medical

reasons. Korean consulates are strict about photos where the shoulders are cut

off or the background shows grey gradient bands from indoor lighting, so face a

window rather than a ceiling lamp. Prepare the file here before starting the

application form, since the portal session times out while you retake photos.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a South Korea visa photo?

3.5 x 4.5 cm on white - 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI, with the face measuring 2.5-3.5 cm (about 56-78% of the frame).

Is the 700 px / 100 KB K-ETA photo size official?

No. That figure only circulates on third-party agency sites; the official K-ETA portal publishes no photo dimensions. Use the standard 3.5 x 4.5 cm crop.

Can I wear glasses in the photo?

Only if the frames do not cover the eyes and there is no glare or shadow. Heavy reflections are a common rejection reason.
